Objectives

Institut Polytechnique de Paris, a public scientific, cultural, and professional institution, brings together six prestigious engineering schools (École polytechnique, ENSTA Paris, École nationale des ponts et chaussées, ENSAE Paris, Télécom Paris, Télécom SudParis) as well as the Graduate School centralizing all Master’s, Doctoral, and HDR (Accreditation to Supervise Research) programs. IP Paris stands out for its steadfast commitment to academic excellence, cutting-edge research, and training future high-level decision-makers and researchers capable of addressing major technological challenges while safeguarding French scientific and industrial sovereignty in critical strategic fields for the nation. In this context, the Erasmus+ 2024 agreement served as a key strategic lever to support the institution's internationalization policy. The main objective of the project was to support and intensify international mobility, focusing primarily on traineeship mobility (SMT), a pivotal stage for our young researchers, while supporting staff professional development through training mobility (STT). The project also aimed to diversify non-EU destinations towards leading scientific hubs (United Kingdom, Switzerland, South Korea), strengthen inclusion and sustainability by encouraging the use of eco-friendly travel options (Green Travel), and ensure full academic recognition of mobility achievements. The crucial role of research internships for doctoral candidates lies at the heart of IP Paris's priorities. Unlike standard study mobility, traineeship mobility carries a deeply structural significance for doctoral students. It allows them to undertake research stays within world-class international laboratories, directly aligned with the progress of their PhD research. These immersive experiences represent a key milestone: they provide privileged access to equipment, methodologies, or data sets unavailable at their home institution, while fostering integration into global scientific communities and the co-creation of knowledge. By equipping our PhD candidates with high-level scientific and intercultural skills, these mobilities directly strengthen the excellence and global reach of the French research model. For our Master’s students, particularly first-year international students, this dual exposure (top-tier education in France and an international research internship) significantly enhances their integration, scientific profile, and overall employability.
