By implementing the project, several objectives focused on inclusion and pedagogical innovation were pursued: OBJ 1:Design innovative and authentic learning materials by creating 8 videos based on real-life situations of women with migration backgrounds as adult learners prefer authentic tools and stories that relate to their personal experiences. OBJ 2: Strengthen the oral skills and social participation of adult learners with migration backgrounds: the project aimed to improve their language skills, resilience, and encourage their social participation, and also digital literacy, intercultural dialogue, and promotion of EU values. OBJ 3: Reinforce trainers’ skills: create a practical teaching kit that allows them to integrate new creative and digital activities based on authentic learning materials into their language courses. OBJ 4: Raise awareness among a wide audience: the videos were designed as tools to raise awareness on the challenges faced by refugees, while highlighting their resources and resilience against discrimination.
This project arose from identified needs in the field of adult education. Traditional language learning materials are largely inadequate for meeting the specific needs of adult learners with a migration background, especially women. Since adults learn best from content that resonates with their own experiences, the project developed authentic, innovative, and digital learning materials (videos) based on the life stories of women with migration backgrounds. Educational activities based on these videos were created, grounded in the realities of the most vulnerable learners, while also aiming to strengthen their self-esteem, participation, and political awareness. Adult trainers needed more teaching materials adapted to the needs and realities of learners with migration backgrounds. Learners in basic training and language courses, particularly women with migration backgrounds, often face discrimination related to gender, origin, or economic and educational disadvantages. Therefore, the project also aimed to raise public awareness of discrimination and the resources mobilized by those involved.
