Objectives

When we implemented the project, our aim was to raise awareness among young people in our respective schools about the importance of everyday actions on the environment and their consequences for the future of the planet. Similarly, through concrete actions stemming from the reflections of French and Italian students, we wanted to establish lasting habits. Cooperation between European countries was also central to our project, as was the practice of English in a non-academic setting among young people concerned by the same issue: drastically reducing waste and committing to recycling. Improving our understanding of our behaviors, reducing our carbon footprint, understanding individual responsibility within a group, and promoting inclusion were also objectives shared by both high schools.

Background

The project aligned with the school's overall objective of giving a European dimension to student learning, particularly in the area of citizenship. The school has already undertaken projects at the European level within the framework of the consortium and eTwinning. To reinforce these efforts and address the need to integrate the school into a project co-developed with international institutions, we chose to focus on the environment, specifically the recycling of materials. Working on this theme, which is relevant to young people of their generation and, above all, which values every action as a component in building a greener and more eco-responsible Europe, seemed promising and relevant to the needs of societies and the students' immediate surroundings.
