Objectives

The Association of Centre de Beaumotte is a living space and a collective experiment where, day by day, a more united, environmentally conscious, and open European society is being built. Since its creation, the association has worked to rebuild social ties, promote diversity, listening, and active participation among young people, following the principles of non-formal education. Our ambition is to offer everyone the opportunity to act on their environment, to understand global challenges, and to become a driving force for positive change. In a context marked by growing inequalities, the climate crisis, rising identity-based tensions, and a general mistrust toward institutions, our project aims to strengthen young people’s civic participation, especially those from rural areas or with limited access to mobility opportunities. We see European cooperation as an essential lever to rebuild connections between peoples and restore confidence in collective action. We therefore seek to enable young people to experience European citizenship in concrete terms through intercultural exchanges and meaningful collaborative projects. The main objectives of our projects under Erasmus+ accreditation are aligned with this vision: • to provide young people with non-formal learning spaces where they can experience cooperation, commitment, and environmental responsibility; • to promote intercultural encounters and social diversity as a means to combat discrimination and xenophobia; • to support young people in taking initiative and co-creating collective actions. During the reference period, we implemented three Erasmus+ projects that concretely reflect these intentions: 1. “The Breath of Change”, focused on raising awareness about the climate emergency and exploring local solutions. This project enabled young people from different countries to reflect together on more sustainable lifestyles through practical workshops, intercultural exchanges, and actions to reduce their carbon footprint. 2. “Whatever Our Differences”, developed in partnership with a rural municipality and a local youth employment mission, built upon a group of young people’s earlier work on discrimination. The project promoted encounters with the local population, intercultural dialogue, and awareness of stereotypes, using non-formal education tools and a participatory approach. 3. “Body in Movement”, created in collaboration with a local circus artist, explored the relationship between body, identity, and culture through circus workshops. Participants discussed body diversity, the impact of posture and movement on self-image, and the cultural differences that shape our perception of the body. The circus, as a universal language, enabled them to express emotions, tell stories, and experiment freely with their bodies. These three projects demonstrate the coherence between our values, our means of action, and the priorities of the Erasmus+ programme: inclusion and diversity, youth participation, environmental sustainability, and local engagement. They also reflect the commitments we set for ourselves: to offer one ecology-related action each year, to develop a project initiated and co-constructed by young people, and to support projects arising from local opportunities and identified needs. Through these initiatives, our association continues to pursue its goal of empowering every young person, regardless of origin or situation, to feel legitimate in acting, participating, and collectively imagining a European future that is united, sustainable, and deeply human.
