Objectives

Our 2024/2025 youth accreditation activity took the form of a project called ‘Imagine,’ through which we sought to persevere in our commitment by continuing to work toward the objectives set out in our framework agreement: 2020-FR02-KA150-YOU-18708. In the face of the ecological, digital, and social upheavals that Europe is undergoing, young people are a key lever for transformation. They represent the generation that will live with the consequences of the decisions taken today: it is important that their voices are taken into account to ensure a sustainable and visionary approach. It is with this in mind that 16 youth organisations representing significant geographical, cultural, historical, and economic diversity have come together around an ambitious project: to mobilise European youth in favour of active, inclusive citizenship committed to addressing the major challenges of our time. ‘Imagine’ was structured around six mobility projects (two training courses for learners and four youth exchanges). It brought together 252 participants representing 13 European countries (Germany, Bulgaria, Croatia, Spain, France, Greece, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, North Macedonia, Poland, Portugal, and Slovenia) in learning and collective construction process that fully aligned with the four major priorities of the Erasmus+ program: • Inclusion and diversity: active participation of young people from underrepresented backgrounds; • Ecological transition: reflection and action on environmental issues; • Digital transition: development of digital tools, media literacy; • Democratic participation: involvement of young people in local, European and global public life. The diverse and varied activities made it possible to: —Develop self-confidence and the ability to take action in the face of major contemporary challenges —Strengthen the sense of belonging to the European Union —Encourage civic engagement and democratic participation —Stimulate critical thinking, creativity, and cooperation —Promote the dissemination of positive and inspiring stories for the future. The method was based on a pedagogy founded on dialogue and action, drawing on the three strategic axes of European youth policy: mobilise, connect, empower. In particular, the aim was to stimulate the imagination, a fundamental skill for functioning in society, essential for empathy, personal well-being, adopting new perspectives, and crucial for the ability to see things differently. ‘Imagination is more important than knowledge, for knowledge is limited, while imagination encompasses the entire world, stimulates progress, and spurs evolution.’ (Albert Einstein) The project enabled the 16 partner organisations to pool their skills and experience by sharing best practices. They multiplied their capacity for innovation and developed a genuine platform for mutual learning.
