ACCOORD is a social and cultural association based in Nantes in the Pays de la Loire region. It is a non-profit organisation under the law of 1901 that manages 23 socio-cultural centres, neighbourhood centres and an open-air center. Under a public service delegation agreement, ACCOORD also manages 40 children's leisure centres, 17 teenage activity areas (11/15 year olds) and organises trips and mobility programmes in France and abroad. Its facilities offer residents a wide range of educational leisure activities for all ages. Every year, 12,000 Nantes families benefit from these activities. The European and international dimension plays a central role in our associative project. Drawing on our experience, we know that mobility and intercultural exchanges are essential factors in the development of young people. Indeed, mobility enables them to: - Discover others, the world, and sometimes even their own history - Develop skills, spark curiosity, and encourage reflection and questioning about the world around them - Exercise their citizenship by adopting a different perspective on the world and time - Build and strengthen their sense of belonging to a European community What's more, many young people in the Nantes area and members of our association have never had the opportunity to travel. Our target groups and staff need to take a step back from their day-to-day lives, develop their independence, boost their self-confidence and gain access to cultural and sporting experiences. Mobility can meet all these needs. These observations have led us to launch Erasmus+ mobility projects in the field of youth. Our objectives for this second project were as follows: 1) To contribute to the development of European citizenship and create political and ecological awareness 2) To develop and enhance the cross-disciplinary skills of young people and staff 3) To act as an intermediary, enabling young people from different countries to meet each other, and to act as a driving force in the Nantes metropolitan area.
