The main objective of the MUNCONNECT project was to empower young people by engaging them in a realistic simulation of the United Nations (Model United Nations – MUN). Through this educational experience, we aimed to offer them a stimulating and structured environment in which they could develop their personal, social, linguistic, and civic skills. More specifically, the project aimed to: -Promote autonomy and a spirit of initiative, by placing young participants at the heart of decision-making, debate organization, and the management of their roles as delegates. -Encourage international cooperation and intercultural dialogue, by bringing together youth from different countries, cultures, and backgrounds to learn how to work together with mutual respect. -Develop language skills, especially in English, in a real and motivating context, helping participants gain oral fluency, self-confidence, and the ability to communicate internationally. -Strengthen their understanding of global issues, by leading them to reflect on complex topics (such as conflicts, migration, ecology, human rights…) and to propose concrete solutions. -Stimulate civic engagement, by helping them discover the workings of diplomacy and international institutions, and by encouraging them to feel concerned and responsible for global challenges. -Beyond academic objectives, we also wanted this project to be a powerful human experience, where young people would learn to know and respect each other, cooperate, and push their limits in a caring yet demanding environment. This project was particularly relevant for young people with fewer opportunities, and aimed to give them access to a valuable international experience likely to change the way they see themselves and others.
