Objectives

The "My Story - Your Story - Our (Hi)Stories!" project brought together 24 young people aged 18 to 26 from Germany, France and Bosnia-Herzegovina for a week in Mellionnec (Centre Ouest Bretagne, Finistère). The aim of the project was to promote inclusion, diversity and European values, by specifically targeting young people with little experience of mobility and who often face economic, social or geographical obstacles. Objectives pursued and achieved 1 - Revisit the history of their countries, decipher what is at stake, learn lessons about the rise of nationalism, and value the work of remembrance The thematic workshops made it possible to link collective historical accounts with individual trajectories. The young people questioned the way in which history is passed on, and how it influences the construction of identities and living together in their respective countries. 2 - Discovering an artistic tool for expressing themselves > Story-telling and linocut workshops enabled participants to discover other ways of expressing themselves. 3 - Opening up to the world, gaining a better understanding of each other's cultural specificities > Discovering new cultures and languages. > Active awareness of the need to combat racism, stereotypes and nationalist discourse. > Valuing multiple identities, in particular those of young Berliners with Afghan, Kurdish, Somali or other cultures. 4 - Boosting self-confidence Thanks to a caring environment, creative workshops and an inclusive group dynamic, the participants were able to experience rewarding successes, regain their confidence and envisage new prospects. More generally, the project aimed to : >> Promote the inclusion of young people in vulnerable situations: The project enabled young people from difficult backgrounds to gain access to a European mobility experience. > Young French people monitored by the Mission Locale du Centre Ouest Bretagne (MLCOB), living in an isolated rural area, often without employment or training. > Young people from Berlin, from recent migratory backgrounds, sometimes arriving as unaccompanied minors. > Young Bosnians facing structural economic difficulties. >> Promoting alternative learning methods: The project is part of a non-formal, grassroots education approach. > Group linocut workshops to tell personal or imagined stories. > Writing and storytelling workshops to encourage expression and creativity. > Group living and intercultural cooperation activities that promote social skills as well as knowledge.
