Established in Alsace three years ago through its local branch, the association has forged strong links with many people who play an active role in the life and development of the region. The aim of this youth exchange was to meet committed people from all backgrounds and generations: residents, producers, craftsmen, shopkeepers, educators, volunteers and elected representatives. Participants took part in a fun and exciting participatory survey, exploring the roots of civic engagement in Alsace and beyond. The idea was to encourage meaningful encounters and awareness-raising, in order to better understand what drives people to get involved in serving their local community. The project also enabled young people to reflect on their own relationship with commitment, and that of those around them, as well as on the causes that inspire collective action. Through this global project, we wanted to support the young people in this intercultural learning process, so that they could value their resources and their territories, as well as realize the richness that surrounds them and take a new look at the place where they live. The objectives of the youth exchange were to -support reflection on commitment, from the local to the global level, in order to better understand its mechanisms -to contribute to raising awareness and valuing the commitments of each participant, as well as the local civil society people met -strengthen young people's ability to act as levers of change for their territories -organize and set up a special event to promote, share and disseminate the elements gathered during the meetings (understanding, awareness, learning, etc.).
