The Festival des jeunes pour l'environnement (Youth Festival for the Environment) was a project written and organized by young people, with the aim of staging a festival on the subject of ecology throughout the entire creative process, including a wide range of players from young people from the partner organizations, in particular those with no access to employment - Ecole de la Deuxième Chance -, to local political decision-makers - Christine Juste, Deputy Mayer for the environment - involved in this field, in order to propose, via a number of playful means, a common reflection on environmental protection and raise awareness among a broad public. In order to set up this process both before the event, on the day itself and afterwards, a multitude of players within the partner organizations were involved in the various phases of the project: young people committed to environmental protection via the core team, members and volunteers of the Clean My Calanques association and young people with no access to employment from the Ecole de la Deuxième Chance in Marseille. In this sense, the project itself has been a formative experience for the young people involved, fostering the exchange of skills, both in terms of setting up and organizing projects (notably European projects), implementing activities, democratic commitment and knowledge about ecology, with an emphasis on equal opportunities. Firstly, it encouraged not only young citizens to commit themselves to an ecological transition, but also public authorities to co-construct future public policies. Secondly, the project was designed to promote social inclusion by involving young people/youth organizations working to ensure the successful professional integration of young people who are far from employment. This category of young people was also targeted to meet a need for professional experience to avoid unemployment, which is very prevalent among young people in the region. The overall project thus pursued and achieved the following objectives: - Enable a group of young people from different socio-cultural backgrounds to benefit from a unique professional and personal experience, within the framework of a project in favor of the environment; - Encourage the commitment of young people, who initiate the project, not only to the environment, but also to democratic and civic life; - Encourage the training of young people through playful, interactive and participative means; - Give young people the opportunity to work together with political decision-makers on key issues; - Train young people to set up projects in general, and European projects in particular; - alleviate the difficulties associated with employment, professional integration and social inclusion of young people, by proposing total involvement in a large-scale local project; - Highlight, particularly at the time of the Festival event, the commitment of young people and youth organizations involved in the project, working to protect the environment and promote social inclusion; - Provide young people with the tools and a network to get involved in the environmental cause, and become true multipliers and ambassadors of the values promoted by the project; - Have a significant impact in terms of environmental awareness beyond the partner structures; - Contribute to the economic development and expansion of the activities of the structures at the heart of the project in terms of employment and fields of activity; - Contribute to the emergence and development of local synergies.
