This project on engagement sought to explore different forms of youth involvement, but also to understand why young people of their age do or do not engage, and how they do so in their local areas (urban, rural, overseas) and at different levels (local, regional, national and even European). With this in mind, the idea was to meet young people from all horizons, particularly young elected representatives, as political engagement among young people is an issue in its own. The four themes that caught the young people's attention and guided the entire project were: - How can we define engagement today? - What are the reasons for getting involved? - Are we all equal when it comes to getting involved? - How far can we go to defend our ideas? The aim of this project was also to carry out work on the European Union in several stages: first, to form an opinion on the European Union, its diversity and complexity, the opportunities it offers and its limitations by meeting people who make Europe (MEPs, associations) and visiting institutions. Next, to express their views on the subject through surveys (structured dialogue – Provox, Eur'Hope) and European Parliament simulations, but also to gather feedback from their peers by organising a vox pop. Finally, the last objective we wanted to achieve was for young people to understand how a project is built.
