The aim of the ‘Connected to you(th)’ project was to help young people explore and learn about digital technology, gain a better understanding of the challenges it presents, and take action as young people in rural areas. The project also aimed to empower young people in rural areas through activities, exchanges, debates, training and experimentation. The following objectives were pursued during the project and with the young participants: - To educate young people in rural areas so that digital issues are understood and democratised for all - To provide spaces for discussion and exchange between peers to create knowledge and a common voice on digital technology and its impacts. - To support young people in developing their own voice and opinion. - Create opportunities for exchange between institutional actors, researchers and intermediate bodies to stimulate cooperation and reflection. - Analyse digital issues with a particular focus on rural areas, young people and social links. - Imagine alternatives to the use of digital technology and other technologies. The objectives were formulated to meet needs identified by the association: - Reach new young people with an interest in the topic - Reflect on, question and develop the tools and practices within the association - Enable the collection and capitalisation of visions and reflections on the theme of digital technology, which will then serve as tools for the movement and proposals or recommendations for society. The team of young organisers also expressed objectives related to this project: - Organise projects for young people in rural areas who are involved in community activities in their local area - Enable young people to learn about a topic that is central to their lives but has not been given focused attention within the community until now. - Empower young people to analyse a topic critically while developing their knowledge, enabling them to develop thinking and tools to adapt to digital challenges. - Enable young people to develop and express a collective voice on a subject that connects them. The aim of the project was also to reach new young people so that the topic of digital technology could be more widely heard and understood, enabling a greater number of young people in rural areas to form critical opinions and adapt their individual and collective actions in their local areas.
