The young people we met during our previous project had informed us of their willingness to get involved and take action in our society, but they felt powerless and unheard. They felt that their ideas and concerns were not sufficiently taken into account in public debate. The project aimed to renew democratic life by diversifying the ways in which young people are encouraged to get involved and by setting up civic activities focusing on issues of democratic participation and young people's power to act. The goal was to equip them to develop their critical faculties, and make their voices heard by political decision-makers. YALEP objectives were therefore to: - Reinforce young people's power to take action and get involved as citizens; - Empower local young people to take part in the democratic life of their region and beyond; - Create spaces for cooperation and debate between local young people; - Develop cooperation between local youth stakeholders on commitment issues.
