Objectives

This project had three main objectives. The first was to empower young people as allies for gender justice. We aimed to encourage young participants to recognize and question gender norms and to engage actively in their communities as fellow advocates for gender justice. We wanted them to develop skills in nonviolent communication as well as the know-how to create initiatives in their own communities within our activities. Therefore, through youth exchanges, we sought to have them jointly design plans for creative campaigns and actions that resonate with them or can be integrated into their hobbies, such as Dungeons & Dragons and theatre of the oppressed, or into spaces where they spend a lot of time, like social media. Our focus was on working with young people who faced fewer opportunities, especially those who, due to their identity markers, encountered discrimination or barriers. The second objective of the project was to improve the competencies of youth workers. Through the activities, we wanted our youth workers to gain new experiences and knowledge related to youth work methodology, with a focus on artistic, gender-transformative methods and the specificities required when working with young people with fewer opportunities. We also wanted to familiarize youth workers with theoretical concepts and alternative approaches to practice, precisely because the youth who participate in our activities prefer creative and innovative methods of work. Through the conference, we aimed to network with partner organizations and increase the visibility of both their and our working methods. In addition, we wanted to fulfill our third objective: raising public awareness of our themes, to familiarize as many people as possible with the specifics of our approach and methods that can be used in everyday work, and to contribute to their professionalization. Through our activities, we sought to educate about gender stereotypes, gender-based violence, and bystander intervention. For this reason, within the conference, we also organized a performance of the play “Muškarčine,” which was open to the public. Alongside these main project goals, we wanted to maintain and enhance the quality of implementation and preparation, focusing on the organization of activities and the increase of positive feedback from participants.
