"Back to the Roots" was a youth exchange program designed to inspire young people to reflect on their relationship with nature and its impact on their lives. It took place in Đakovo, Croatia, from September 6th to 15th, 2024, and brought together eight participants from Romania, Spain and Croatia and seven participants from Serbia, and each group was accompanied by a designated leader from their respective countries, while from Serbia there was also one facilitator that helped in navigating trough the programme. Through a series of engaging activities, the program aimed to improve physical health, emotional well-being, and ecological awareness, while fostering practical skills in outdoor activities and DIY workshops. "Back to the Roots" also provided valuable opportunities for cross-cultural learning and language development, empowering participants to become conscientious global citizens committed to environmental stewardship and intercultural understanding. Our objectives were: - Enhancing participants' understanding of human-nature relationships and environmental issues. - Promoting cultural exchange and intercultural understanding among participants from diverse backgrounds. - Developing practical skills in sustainability practices, including recycling, upcycling, and DIY initiatives. - Fostering personal growth and well-being through reflection, self-expression (creating plays, poems and songs), and community engagement (presentations on the local market).
