The E+ GOOSKA project aimed to enable young people to experience the full cycle of participation – from identifying needs and setting priorities, through designing and implementing local interventions, to engaging in structured dialogue with decision-makers – in line with the objectives of Erasmus+ Youth Participation Activities (KA154). The project was developed in response to the need for greater involvement of young people in local decision-making processes and for strengthening their role as active citizens who are able to identify the needs of their communities, propose concrete solutions and advocate for positive change. Particular emphasis was placed on experiential learning by creating opportunities for young people to take responsibility for different stages of the process and, through practical experience, develop the competences necessary for long-term civic engagement. The project's main focus was to ensure that young people were not merely participants in the activities, but co-creators of both the process and its content. This was clearly reflected in the way they identified the themes they wished to address (youth spaces in Split and Karlovac, career guidance in Rijeka, the social life of young people in Osijek, and attitudes towards immigrants in Poreč). Through the project, we sought to ensure that the selected topics and activities were based on the real needs of young people within their local communities rather than on assumptions made by organisations. In this way, we aimed to increase the relevance of the activities, strengthen participants' motivation, and foster a stronger sense of ownership and responsibility for the project's outcomes. The specific objectives of the project were: - to develop young people's civic competences and their capacity to participate actively in the democratic life of their communities, including a better understanding of decision-making processes and the roles of different stakeholders; - to strengthen young people's communication, presentation and advocacy skills, enabling them to articulate the needs of their peers and present them effectively to relevant stakeholders and decision-makers; - to strengthen the capacities of partner organisations to use participatory action research and non-formal learning as effective tools for working with young people at the local level. In addition to developing young people's competences, the project aimed to contribute to establishing more sustainable mechanisms for cooperation between young people, civil society organisations and decision-makers. We sought to promote a culture of dialogue in which the views of young people are systematically taken into account and to demonstrate that participatory approaches can lead to more responsive local policies and initiatives. At the same time, the project enabled partner organisations to develop new working methods and strengthen their capacity to implement activities that provide young people with genuine opportunities to participate and take responsibility. The project's objectives were fully aligned with the priorities of the Erasmus+ Programme in the field of youth, particularly the promotion of young people's participation in democratic life, the development of key competences, and stronger connections between young people and decision-makers. They also reflected the quality principles of KA154 Youth Participation Activities, which emphasise learning through participation, the inclusion of young people from diverse backgrounds, and the creation of a visible and lasting impact on local communities. Furthermore, the project contributed to promoting inclusion, active citizenship and the long-term empowerment of young people to play an active role in shaping the future of their local communities, which represents one of the core objectives of the Erasmus+ Programme in the youth field.
