Objectives

The double youth exchange programme "The Artist in Us" plans a 6-day international exchange programme in Romania and an 8-day international exchange programme in Hungary for young people from Romania and Hungary, using different drama pedagogical methods, improvisation games and the knowledge and use of social issues affecting young people. At the end of the exchanges, the young people will present, through the language of art, the social problems they themselves feel, by presenting their product. These could be xenophobia, the acceptance of each other, our national values, the possibility of harmonious cooperation between cultures. Drama pedagogy helps all participants to develop, to acquire new knowledge and skills. The two organisations DEMKI N. KFT i.e. the Debrecen Youth House and Asociata Pentru Tinerii si Sdutentidin Partium will take place between 10.07.2024 and 15.07.2024 in Kapolnasfalu and between 03.08.2024 and 11.08.2024 in Debrecen. The Kápolnásfalu exchange will take place at the Cultural and Cultural Centre in the centre of the settlement. The exchange will take place in the Youth House in the city centre and in the Csapókerti Community Houses, which are a vibrant part of life in Debrecen. The houses offer cultural and leisure activities and services mainly for young people. The Csapókerti Community House has a theatre. This is the vibrant and colourful environment in which we welcome 32 young people (16-16) who will participate in the Debrecen International Exchange. The participants are young people who have never been abroad or on an international youth programme. A large percentage of the participants come from disadvantaged small towns and socially underdeveloped areas. Youth exchanges combine non-formal education methods with drama pedagogical methods. These two different types of methods provide the tools for young people to develop. Art as a means of self-expression is combined with dramatic-stage exercises (body language, stage presence, movement) to help young people express themselves, share their thoughts and experiences and develop. The aim of the exchanges is to foster young people's acceptance of each other, to learn about and accept each other's cultures, to promote tolerance and respect, to recognise and cherish our cultural values and to increase their activity in local communities, thus helping them to become active citizens. Youth Exchanges will have a great impact on their participants, influencing both their local communities and their organisations through their personal competence-based development. In addition to individual skills, their European values will also be developed. It will also contribute to the development of European values among participants, the partner organisation and local communities. It will stimulate participants' thinking about the basic characteristics of European society and, above all, encourage them to play an active role in their local communities. Another aim is to share with them the Erasmus+ experience and the feeling of an international community. In addition, the organisations involved will establish a solid basis for good cooperation and gain experience in different areas, strengthening their competences. It is a great opportunity for our organisation to develop a closer cooperation with our partner through joint projects, which can create the basis for maintaining a long-term partnership. Hopefully, these exchanges will give us the opportunity to work on future projects, which would be a great step forward for the Youth House in Debrecen. Finally, the local population of Debrecen, Kápolnásfalu and indirectly Nagvárad will get to know what the Erasmus+ Programme is all about. The exchanges will give them an insight into a youth exchange programme. It will lead to a better understanding of cultural and economic differences and we hope that further discussions on these topics will start.
