The project idea is largely thanks to an Erasmus+ training course that happened in October 2023, “Let’s Facilitate”(2023-1-HU01-KA153-YOU-000145556), organized and hosted by 21 Nap Egyesület. On that project, many young youth workers (aged 20-30) came together to develop their facilitation competences. Many of these young youth workers also became interested in developing their own Erasmus+ projects. So in the follow-up period of the project, 8 young youth workers came together to start discussing what they would like to do. They had never organized an Erasmus+ project before but they had participated in a few. And they knew they had a common passion for the topic of digital disconnection. This group contacted the more experienced members of 21 Nap Egyesület, whom they also knew from the training, to support them in creating the project and to be the host organisation. The goal of 21 Nap Egyesület in this project is to give as much space and control to the organizing young people as possible, creating a frame in which they can realize their own ideas. This is emphasised as one of the main priorities of the project is to actually have young people do it for young people. Experienced youth workers are present in the process, providing support and feedback, also facilitating a few sessions but decisions are made by the group of young people involved. The young people involved in the project started with a need-assessment. Based on the needs, the team formulated the following objectives: (I) To support participants in understanding and changing their relationship with smart devices and social media. (II) To support the participants in gaining a deeper understanding of sustainability and give them tools, with which they can encourage their environment to care about it as well. (III) To implement a high-quality nonformal educational project that lets participants develop their key competences in an international setting.
