Objectives

The main aim of the project “Reducing Eco-Anxiety Through Nature Connection” was to address the increasing mental health challenges young people face due to climate change, particularly the growing phenomenon of eco-anxiety. By implementing this project, we wanted to raise awareness, build understanding, and equip youth workers with the tools and strategies needed to support young people struggling with climate-related emotional distress. The specific objectives of the project were: O1: To increase awareness and provide a detailed understanding of eco-anxiety among youth workers, helping them to recognize it as a legitimate and emerging mental health issue. O2: To enable participants to identify signs of eco-anxiety in young people and respond effectively using empathy, active listening, and appropriate coping techniques. O3: To explore and promote nature-based solutions for reducing eco-anxiety and improving the overall mental well-being of youth. Through this project, we aimed to create a lasting impact by training 34 youth workers and co-creating a practical Handbook. This resource serves as a guide for youth workers to support young people dealing with eco-anxiety, fostering a more resilient and emotionally aware generation in the face of environmental challenges.
