Objectives

Since the launch of Erasmus+ programme the number of opportunities for mobility of young people, youth professionals and volunteers have increased, as well as the need of skilled facilitators, trainers and project organizers. During the past years of working in this field we have noticed several issues that are not being addressed often, therefore causing a big number of low quality projects all around Europe and spreading inaccurate stereotypes about the programme overall. One big issue hides behind the inexperienced Erasmus+ project managers. Usually these are very initiative youth leaders, who come up with great project ideas, but who lack necessary skill set, attitudes and knowledge about this field. Such combo leads to poorly managed projects and therefore brings lower impact on all levels, including inefficient use of Erasmus+ funds. The other problem we witnessed was the lack of attention to the well-being of youth workers. The group dynamics and profile of participants in the projects have drastically changed due to the high amount of stress. Working with such youngsters affects leaders and facilitators emotionally much more than before, however, they still don’t pay enough attention to taking care of their emotional wellbeing. Eventually it leads to excessive stress and ends up as a burnout, which in some cases ends up as giving up on one's own careers. The initial idea of “Youth Work Unlocked” wasbased on the observation and real needs that were presented by the groups of people, which our consortium works with, which was implemented in November 2023. We have worked it further from the success of the first edition to reach more young people and professionals in youth work. The main objective is to equip Erasmus+ practioners and beginngers in the youth work field, who don't have professional education, with necessary skills and tools for delivering high quality content to the youth group, as as well as promotion of mental well-being of youth workers. Our objectives were research based, widely observes, and alongside our partners we agreed that all our communities and networks need new, fresh minds and intention to bring more self-awareness, safe and supportive space and excitement for young people.
