Objectives

By offering young people the chance to participate in youth exchanges, they can acquire new cultural experiences that are often absent from their daily lives. This opportunity enables them to not only explore a different country and culture while meeting new individuals, but also to engage in a learning journey guided by their youth workers, who emphasize various learning moments along the way. If young people miss out on this chance during their formative years, they may conform to societal norms. Keeping in line with our main Goals of Making our community more inclusive, Feeling a sense of European belonging Acting in solidarity to issues that cause discrimination and conflict. Our main objectives within our European work are the following. 1. To enhance young peoples opportunities in society through European collaboration and engagement. In providing young people with the opportunity of youth exchanges this allows them to gain new culture and experience that they wont get in everyday life. This opportunity whereby they not only experience a new country and culture meeting new people but are taking through a learning process supported by their youth workers highlighting the many different learning moments throughout the process. If young people don't get this opportunity at a young age they might fall in ton society norms. 2. Allowing young people feel a sense of European belonging and a freedom to explore it. Young people within Ringsend feel a sense of isolation towards their identify and were they belong. As the sense of been European rather than just Irish can get lost with young people who live in disadvantaged areas also the sense of solidarity gets lost as sometimes those who need it most can lose faith in what solidarity is. Gaining these international experiences allow them gain the sense that they can make a difference and as bad as they think their life might be they can still make a difference not only for themselves. 3.To share best practices and youth worker competencies to enhance the skills of youth workers within Europe. Allowing youth workers explore different practice within Europe to enhance their work with young people. Looking at youth work not only in Ireland but in other countries whereby we can share tools and methods to support our work. Having a team of youth workers who are experienced within a European working setting allows them to best work with young people in this setting contributing to the sense of belonging and unity that we what to achieve.
