Youth Exchanges – Ireland & Cyprus For both youth exchanges—hosted in Dublin, Ireland and Cyprus—we aimed to keep the project’s objectives clear, focused, and youth-centered. The primary goal was to develop the social skills of the young people involved through positive interaction, cultural sharing, and new experiences. Our specific objectives were: To gently expose young people to different cultures, traditions, and lifestyles from across Europe in a safe, supportive environment. To encourage friendship, interaction, and teamwork between young people of similar age and diverse backgrounds. To provide opportunities to share and celebrate each group’s unique culture through food, music, drama, traditional dress, and storytelling. To promote personal growth, confidence, and a sense of European identity. To ensure the experience was not only educational but also fun and memorable for all involved. Originally, we planned to include youth from Germany and Cyprus, along with our own Irish group, with all participants coming from disadvantaged backgrounds. However, when the German partner had to withdraw, Irish and Cypriot leaders quickly responded. We held a Zoom planning meeting, agreed to increase participant numbers, and proceeded with the project without altering the original objectives—a solution that worked well and maintained the spirit of the exchange. Youth Workers’ Mobility – Piispala, Finland The objectives for the youth workers’ mobility project were intentionally simple and practical, focusing on professional development through cultural exchange. Our goals were: To enhance the social skills, confidence, and travel experience of youth workers and volunteers, particularly those with limited international exposure. To provide opportunities for personal and professional growth within the context of Erasmus+. To introduce participants to different working methods, youth cultures, and community approaches in another European setting. To build long-term connections and mutual understanding with our long-standing partner in Piispala, Finland, an organisation we have collaborated with for many years. The mobility also served as a valuable space for informal learning, team-building, and cultural discovery—further strengthening the capacity and enthusiasm of the youth workers involved.
