The “Youth Work and Ecovillages for Peace” project aimed to strengthen cooperation among youth workers and organisations active in sustainability, ecovillages, and non-formal education, with a specific focus on peacebuilding and conflict transformation. At the outset, the project responded to increasing societal challenges such as conflicts, social fragmentation, and climate-related crises, which directly impact young people and the role of youth work. The main intention was therefore to equip youth workers with the competences, networks, and tools needed to address these challenges through their daily work. The project had several interconnected objectives. A primary objective was to strengthen and expand the Yes to Sustainability network by involving both experienced and new organisations, fostering stronger partnerships, and developing a shared strategic vision for youth work across different countries. In parallel, the project aimed to enhance the quality of youth work practices by promoting peer-to-peer learning, exchange of good practices, and the use of non-formal education methodologies. Another key objective was to explore and deepen the relationship between youth work, ecovillages, and peacebuilding. The project created space for reflection and experimentation around how sustainable communities and youth initiatives can contribute to conflict resolution, inclusion, and the promotion of a culture of peace. Additionally, the project aimed to establish a “Youth Workers for Peace” Community of Practice, providing a long-term platform for sharing resources, experiences, and opportunities. This was complemented by the submission of a KA2 Cooperation Partnership in March 2026, building on the ideas and collaborations initiated during the activity. Finally, the project sought to generate local impact by engaging with the host community, showcasing the value of youth work at the local level, and fostering dialogue between international participants and local stakeholders.
