Objectives

Our goal for this trip was to learn from other young people in the Nordic countries and hear from them what challenges or opportunities exist in their local environment. We also wanted to gain knowledge in the field of youth work and strengthen connections with the neighboring countries around us. We shared our knowledge and experience on interdisciplinary cooperation with other youth centers and with professionals in youth work in Iceland. We received education on the challenges or opportunities in their local environment. We also strengthened our connections with youth workers as well as young people in Lund. Peer education has a long history and the ideology comes precisely from the Nordic countries, which are very advanced when it comes to leisure and social studies. They do great work with young people, and we want to learn from them. It is interesting to note that the municipality of Lund does not currently operate Peer Education. There is a strong desire for the municipality of Lund to prioritize Peer Education as an important activity and service for children and teenagers in Lund. A number of managers from the welfare department as well as the school and recreation departments attended our lecture/presentation and participated in the discussion. Employees also enjoyed a presentation at Hinu húsi which they will take with them during the renovation of the new youth house in Lundar LT21.
