Objectives

Through the implementation of the project, we aimed to activate virtuous processes of exchange to support the understanding and transmission of European cultural heritage as a tool to prevent early school leaving. The proposed activities, which involved a significant percentage of students with socio-cultural disadvantages, promoted respect for diversity and the reduction of prejudice and stereotypes. The project highlighted the common cultural roots of the partner countries, fostering intercultural dialogue, civic engagement, and responsible, inclusive, and supportive attitudes. Through a partnership between institutions in Italy, Romania, and Spain, we supported the active and democratic participation of students within the school community and beyond national borders. Physical mobility activities allowed participants to explore the cultural heritage of each country as a shared asset, strengthening the sense of European belonging. In line with the Erasmus+ priority on sustainability, the activities also promoted reflection on climate change and actions aimed at the ecological transition, supporting the development of European key competences and the formation of active citizens.

Background

The participating institutions IISS “S. Francesco di Paola”, Liceul Tehnologic “Anghel Saligny”, and IES Punta Larga, through their application, aimed to address educational needs related to learning disadvantage, the risk of early school leaving, and low levels of basic skills within their student populations. The need emerged to implement targeted interventions to support all students, particularly the most vulnerable ones: those with fewer opportunities, special educational needs, or at risk of social exclusion. Thirty percent of the places were reserved for these students, ensuring their full involvement in order to improve their academic performance. The project promoted inclusion, the appreciation and respect for diversity, while strengthening shared values, responsibility, creativity, a sense of European citizenship, and active participation. Both virtual and physical exchange activities fostered the development of personal and intercultural skills, as well as the European key competences. Particular attention was given to sustainable development and climate change. The methodology adopted proved to be clear and feasible, ensuring the effective use of digital tools and guaranteeing the quality of the educational process.
