Cultural heritage

Objectives

Through the project we aimed to achieve three main objectives: to foster well-being in the classroom through more positive and inclusive learning environments; to promote a creative approach to learning through innovative technologies and methodologies; and to strengthen key competences and life skills for both students and teachers. Operationally, the aim was to turn cultural heritage into an authentic context for research, dialogue and production, so that students could become active protagonists and teachers could feel more confident in designing accessible activities. We also wanted to produce transferable results that could be reused by other schools and educational networks.

Background

We applied for this project because, especially in adolescence, learning can easily become ineffective when content remains abstract and disconnected from students’ real experience. The needs identified concerned the need to make teaching more inclusive, meaningful and able to value differences, while also improving well-being in the classroom. Another need was to help teachers design more accessible learning pathways, with a purposeful use of digital tools and a clear methodological framework, identified in UDL. Local cultural heritage was chosen as a concrete lever to increase motivation, participation, digital skills, communication and collaboration among students.
