Objectives

The program accredited for 2024 aimed to strengthen youth participation, intercultural dialogue, and environmental awareness through two major international youth exchanges hosted in Brindisi Montagna, Italy. The first project, Green Citizen (November 23-30, 2024), focused on helping rural youth discover the connection between environmental protection, sustainability, and community engagement. Participants explored how to act responsibly towards nature, promoted recycling and eco-friendly behavior, and shared experiences of how environmental education can shape collective responsibility. The second project, Y.E.A.R. – Youth, Education, Action, Rights (April 6-13, 2025), focused on human rights and social participation. Its goal was to increase young people's understanding of democracy, equality, and inclusion and support them in developing small initiatives that promote active citizenship, especially in geographically disadvantaged areas. In both projects, the program aimed to develop digital skills, environmental awareness, and intercultural understanding among participants from Italy, Turkey, and other partner countries. Special attention was paid to young people from rural and disadvantaged backgrounds, supporting them in connecting local realities with European youth cooperation policies and strategies. The main objectives were: -. Promote environmental sustainability and awareness among young citizens. - Enhance youth participation in democratic and community life. - Develop digital and intercultural skills through non-formal learning. - Encourage cooperation between EU and third-country partners on youth policies. All these objectives were successfully achieved. Participants improved their knowledge of EU initiatives on sustainability and youth rights, developed new digital skills, and demonstrated greater motivation to participate in civic and environmental actions at the local and European levels. The exchanges also created long-term cooperation between partners and local municipalities, ensuring continued youth involvement in the Basilicata region and beyond.
