Objectives

The project "Bridge-building, Stereotype-breaking" is a Youth Exchange designed to critically address the complex theme of immigration and the associated stereotypes. The reasons behind this initiative encompass a variety of key objectives aimed at fostering a positive change in the perception and management of immigration-related issues. The primary focus is on young people from Italy, Spain, France, and Slovakia, countries considered particularly connected to the immigration theme. During the project writing phase, we sought advice and suggestions from our partners. Some members of the partner organizations will take on the key role of group leaders during the exchange. This strategic choice ensures that the project's activities and dynamics are guided by individuals with a deep understanding of the migratory context. Their experience and expertise have significantly contributed to clarifying the project's objectives and identifying the key issues to be explored during the Youth Exchange. Issues addressed: 1. Negative stereotypes about immigration: The goal is to counter prejudices and discriminations through critical analysis and the promotion of cultural diversity. 2. Nationalism and anti-immigration parties: The project addresses the challenge of increasing nationalism and the popularity of anti-immigration political parties, exploring the European context. 3. Social and economic integration: It focuses on the importance of linguistic, economic, educational, and social integration for migrants, identifying challenges and solutions. 4. Negative use of social media: The influential effect of social media on public opinion is recognized, and the project aims to educate young people on responsible usage to spread informed and positive narratives. Addressed needs: The Youth Exchange responds to the need to tackle stereotypes and promote tolerance among young people from diverse cultures. Through workshops, the development of social skills, and reflection on cultural identity, the project creates a platform to build international networks and contribute to the construction of inclusive communities. Project objectives: 1. Promote social inclusion: Create an environment of acceptance and mutual understanding among young people from diverse cultures. 2. Counter misinformation: Use dialogue and the sharing of experiences to counter misinformation about immigration. 3. Empowerment of young people: Provide tools and awareness to challenge stereotypes and actively contribute to a more inclusive society. 4. Create a bond between diverse communities: Build bridges between different communities through dialogue and mutual understanding. 5. Change negative narratives: Use social media to promote positive stories and challenge distorted perceptions, contributing to a more inclusive image of immigration. The project represents an opportunity to promote a positive change in the perception of immigration, involving young people in a process of learning and awareness.
