Through the PulseTech project, our aim was to address a clear and pressing need within our community: supporting young people in acquiring digital skills and practical tools that can help them face the labour market with more confidence and build an active role in society. Working for years in the rural area of Pignola, we noticed that many young people, especially those with fewer opportunities and living in peripheral contexts, struggle to use digital tools that are now essential for job searching, effective communication, teamwork and project development. This digital weakness often goes hand in hand with limited participation in local social life, low self-confidence in starting initiatives and the perception of having few professional and personal growth opportunities. For this reason, we designed a learning path combining non-formal education, European cooperation and hands-on practice, so that participants could develop not only technical skills but also motivation, creativity and a proactive mindset. Our main goal was to provide a real “digital boost”, helping young people familiarise themselves with basic technological tools that can support their access to employment, entrepreneurship and civic participation. At the same time, we wanted to strengthen their connection with the local community, foster positive social networks and encourage their active involvement in shaping their own environment. Inclusion was a key priority: we intentionally involved young people facing economic or geographic obstacles, ensuring that the project could become a meaningful opportunity for personal empowerment and social participation. Through collaborative activities, peer learning and non-formal education methods, participants learned by doing, exchanged experiences with international peers and tested their ability to turn ideas into concrete actions. In essence, PulseTech aimed to develop digital awareness, foster initiative, promote inclusion and inspire young people to explore professional and entrepreneurial paths, contributing to youth empowerment and to a more active, connected and future-oriented community.
