Objectives

In the heart of the Lucanian Apennines National Park and the Val d'Agri, a small community in the province of Potenza (the town of Anzi) faces common challenges shared by many small-sized countries: the depopulation of the younger generations. These young people, drawn by opportunities for study and work elsewhere, are progressively moving away from their roots, neglecting their connection to the original territory. Our commitment in the field of anthropological studies leads us to believe that rediscovering and valorizing one's roots and traditions can represent a fundamental starting point for future generations. Understanding the historical and cultural development of the territory provides a solid foundation for promoting local initiatives, thus creating greater opportunities for residents to remain and thrive in their community. Through this project, we also aim to raise awareness among young people about the importance of intercultural discovery and sharing, promoting a climate of social inclusion. Only through dialogue and mutual understanding can we overcome cultural and social barriers, recognizing the other not as a stranger but as an integral part of a broader community. We identify a series of challenges, including the detachment of younger generations from their roots, lack of cultural exchange, and low inclination towards social inclusion. However, we hope that this project will stimulate a renewed interest in local traditions, foster intercultural sharing, promote social activism, and break down barriers hindering meaningful relationships between individuals from different backgrounds. Therefore, the "issues" we identified before drafting this project are: 1 Limited attachment of younger generations to their origins and traditions 2 Lack of sharing one's culture with individuals from other cultural/social contexts 3 Inability, on the part of young people, to create social networks where they can share and express their ideas 4 Limited spirit of inclusion among young people 5 Lack of knowledge of social exclusion/inclusion phenomena 6 Presence of cultural/geographical/social barriers preventing young people from engaging with others. From this project, we hope for: 1 Increased interest among young people in their origins and traditions 2 Initiating the sharing and permeability of one's culture in an inclusive perspective 3 A more active interest from young people in integrating into the social networks of their territories and beyond 4 Increased spirit of inclusion 5 Knowledge of social exclusion/inclusion phenomena 6 Breaking down barriers hindering interactions with others. We believe that this project is consistent with the objectives of the Erasmus+ program because: - Promoting learning and skills acquisition: The project aims to promote learning and valorization of local traditions and cultural roots, providing individuals with the tools to understand the history and development of their territory. This contributes to personal growth and the enhancement of cultural and social skills. -Supporting the development of education, training, and youth: The project addresses the challenge of depopulation in rural areas and the loss of cultural identity, promoting initiatives that directly involve young people and local communities in the valorization of their cultural heritage. - Promoting transnational mobility: Although the project focuses on physical mobility, it promotes the mobility of ideas, knowledge, and practices through cultural exchange and collaboration between individuals from different communities. - Strengthening cooperation and innovation: The project encourages collaboration among various actors, such as educational institutions, cultural organizations, and local communities, to develop innovative approaches to the valorization of cultural heritage and the promotion of social inclusion. - Promoting social inclusion and equal opportunities: By addressing the detachment of younger generations from their roots and promoting intercultural sharing, the project contributes to the promotion of social inclusion and overcoming cultural and social barriers that may hinder dialogue and collaboration between individuals of different origins. - In our view, the project aligns with the objectives of Erasmus+ by promoting learning, mobility, cooperation, and social inclusion through the valorization of cultural roots and intercultural sharing.
