Objectives

This project was created by a group of young people who met during a Youth Exchange in the Netherlands. Inspired by our shared experience, we felt a strong desire to repay the benefits we had gained. That’s why we decided to take action that supports global change and the development of soft skills among peers. The aim of the project was to help young people build better skills in communication. We wanted them to grow in five main areas: 1. Confidence and emotional intelligence – learning to trust themselves, manage feelings, and show empathy. 2. Communication strategies – using at least five new tools for clearer and more effective communication. 3. Cultural awareness and appreciation – understanding other cultures, fighting stereotypes, and learning respect. 4. Problem-solving and assertive communication – finding peaceful solutions, speaking clearly, and working in teams. 5. Digital communication and media literacy – learning how to share messages online, spot false information, and use digital tools in a safe way. The project also connected with Erasmus+ priorities. Our main focus was Inclusion and Diversity and Participation in democratic life. We also gave space to Digital transformation through the several digital tools used throughout the project phases, and to Environment and climate action through small but clear steps, like replacing plastic cups with reusable mugs. The activities were planned to make learning simple and practical. Through games, group work, role plays, street interviews, and digital projects, participants had the chance to practice skills instead of only listening. They worked in buddy pairs and in small crews, which gave them daily support and motivation. The project also aimed to strengthen European identity, to build links with the local community, and to grow a network of young people and organisations that can work together in the future. Beyond that the project focused on building other essential skills like: independent thinking, taking initiative, and working collaboratively. All of them prepare young people for their future careers and support their growth in their personal lives by encouraging social inclusion, access to quality employment, and active participation in society. By this project we wanted to give young people valuable insights into how to strengthen their communication and personal development from a global perspective. To make them aware of possible challenges they may face in future aspects of their lives and professional careers. The objectives were met and confirmed not only in our self-assessment surveys but also in the reports submitted by Group Leaders. In these reports, young people said they felt more confident to speak up, better at handling conflicts, and more open to different cultures. They also showed pride in using new digital skills and in reaching their own communities after the project. In short, the aim was to give young people a safe space to listen, to speak, and to learn from each other. The objectives gave them clear steps in this direction, and both the data and the feedback show that they were reached.
