Objectives

The youth exchange project GreenGeneration – Empowering youth, leading the way! took shape from the experiences shared by young people from the target groups of the partner organizations, united by a commitment to community life and sustainable development. The project was born as a response to the need to rebuild meaningful connections between people, communities and the environment, in a period marked by global emergencies and a frenetic lifestyle that has often distanced young people from the fundamental values of solidarity, equity and respect for nature. GreenGeneration intended to promote a sustainable lifestyle, raising awareness and training participants on movements such as permaculture, the slow movement, degrowth and zero waste. The specific objectives were: For the participants: Explore and adopt new sustainable approaches to apply in everyday life, with particular attention to reducing environmental impact; Extend the concept of sustainability to social relationships, promoting interpersonal bonds based on ecological values and collaboration for the common good; Act as agents of positive change in their communities, implementing concrete initiatives in favor of environmental and social sustainability. For partner organizations: Analyze global changes and contribute to projects and initiatives for environmental sustainability, enhancing the impact of local actions; Promote slow and sustainable thinking within their target groups, stimulating critical reflection on lifestyles; Actively involve local communities in educational activities oriented towards sustainability, generating real impact on the social fabric. For local communities: Promote new ecological practices in the sectors of agriculture and sustainable mobility; Involve young people in sustainability initiatives and stimulating their active participation; Promote intercultural dialogue through community events, encouraging the exchange of knowledge and the construction of solidarity bonds. The project involved 25 young people from 5 European countries in a youth exchange activity based on non-formal education methodologies and peer learning. During an eight-month collaborative journey, participants shared knowledge and skills on sustainability issues, devised new methodologies, involved other young people in their local contexts, and disseminated the project results through mainly digital activities and content. These results were disseminated, paving the way for new future collaborations, even with entities not directly involved in the project.
