Preventing racism and discriminationInclusion of marginalised young peopleCreativity, arts and culture

Objectives

This project was created with two main objectives. First, to carry out a second edition of our previous Erasmus+ project Express Art, which generated great enthusiasm among young participants, partner organisations and local actors, opening their minds to new horizons through art. Secondly, considering the current social situation in Sicily, Italy and Europe, marked by growing intolerance, fear and discrimination, we felt the need to design a project that could help build a fairer and more tolerant society. Our experience in artistic and cultural work has taught us to believe in art as a way to give voice to the collective conscience, raise awareness of social issues, and challenge fear, ignorance and prejudice. Throughout the project, young people embarked on a journey of self-discovery and intercultural understanding, reflecting on diversity as a resource and on the importance of inclusion. Through art, they learned to express themselves, grow as individuals, become more tolerant and make a positive contribution to their communities. The project pursued the following specific objectives: - To promote social inclusion and transformation through artistic expression. - To deconstruct stereotypes and prejudices about migrants. - To develop skills for intercultural dialogue among young people of different nationalities. - To raise awareness of and combat racism and xenophobia. - To strengthen self-esteem, social, linguistic and transversal competences through creative and non-formal activities.
