The main objective of the “United in Diversity through Cultural Heritage” project was to provide a dynamic and meaningful learning experience for youth workers, aimed at promoting cultural awareness, responsible heritage practices, and a critical reflection on the challenges related to migration. Within this general aim, we pursued a series of specific objectives: Exploration of European Cultural Heritage: Participants had the opportunity to discover and appreciate the tangible and intangible heritage of the partner countries. Visits to historical sites, museums, and interactive workshops fostered a deeper understanding of the richness of European cultural identity. Promotion of Inclusive Practices: Through a diverse and balanced selection process, the project ensured representation of participants from different backgrounds and levels of experience. A safe and inclusive environment was created, encouraging mutual learning through dialogue and exchange. Environmental Sustainability: All project activities were designed with environmental impact in mind. Participants were encouraged to adopt sustainable practices, reduce single-use plastics, and choose green transportation options. Migrant Inclusion: Acknowledging the challenges faced by migrant communities, the project addressed migration issues by highlighting the cultural contribution of migrants to European heritage and creating safe spaces for intercultural dialogue. Youth Worker Empowerment: Through skill-building workshops, mentoring, and active participation, youth workers enhanced their intercultural, leadership, and project management competencies, particularly in the field of cultural heritage. Knowledge Exchange and Network Building: The project fostered the exchange of experiences and best practices not only among participants but also between partner organizations and the Erasmus+ network. Structured workshops, collaborative activities, and virtual discussions encouraged networking and lasting cooperation—also involving the local community of Vibo Valentia. Documentation and Dissemination: In collaboration with local media and journalists, the project journey was documented and shared publicly. A final open-access booklet, developed with participants, collected insights, reflections, and educational content and was disseminated via existing digital platforms. Sustainability and Long-Term Impact: The booklet, created with the active contribution of participants and supported by AICEM, represents a concrete outcome aimed at raising awareness on heritage protection and the role of youth in its promotion. The ongoing engagement with local communities and cultural institutions aims to ensure the project's long-lasting impact. By achieving these goals, the project significantly strengthened youth workers' practical skills in intercultural communication and heritage-related education. It empowered them to organize inclusive activities, lead community engagement initiatives, and promote cultural understanding—ensuring that the impact continues beyond the project's formal timeline.
