Objectives

Through the project “HEAL - Harmonising Expressions Aiming at Lightness” we wanted to offer young people and youth workers concrete tools to address the topic of mental wellbeing through music. After the difficult years of the pandemic, many young people showed signs of anxiety, isolation, and difficulty in participating in social life. Our goal was to respond to this need by training youth workers to use music as a universal language to foster inclusion, personal expression, and inner healing. In particular, our objectives were the following: to train 21 youth workers from 5 European countries (Hungary, Spain, Romania, Poland, and Italy) on the use of music as a non-formal educational tool for the mental wellbeing of young people; to exchange music practices and techniques useful to promote participation and integration within groups; to create an online manual with music therapy tools for wellbeing and mental health; to create and produce 4 musical tracks available to the public; to initiate local groups of young people who could experiment with and spread music activities related to wellbeing; to promote music at an international level as an educational and therapeutic tool. In summary, we contributed to building a community of educators and young people who are more aware, sensitive, and capable of using art and sound as tools for connection and care.
