The main aim of “A Blink of an I” was to strengthen the capacity of youth workers, mentors, tutors and educators to recognise, understand and support the personal, social and professional changes that young people experience during volunteering, mobility and active participation activities within Erasmus+ and the European Solidarity Corps programmes. The project was conceived from the awareness that many important learning and transformation processes happen “in the blink of an eye” and are often not immediately recognised either by young people themselves or by the adults supporting them. For this reason, the Training Course aimed to provide youth workers with practical tools, non-formal education methodologies and reflective approaches capable of helping young people identify their attitudes, talents and competences and connect them to their personal growth and future development. More specifically, the project pursued the following objectives: - to improve the competences of youth workers and mentors in supporting young people during moments of transition, change and self-discovery; - to strengthen the ability of participants to facilitate processes of self-assessment, reflection and recognition of learning outcomes; - to promote the use of non-formal education as a tool for personal empowerment, active participation and social inclusion; - to enhance the quality of youth work by introducing more conscious, empathetic and participant-centred educational approaches; - to support the integration of Youthpass competences and learning reflection into daily youth work practices; - to create a shared understanding among partner organisations on how to accompany young people in recognising and valuing their learning experiences; - to encourage intercultural dialogue, peer learning and cooperation between organisations active in Erasmus+ and ESC projects; - to develop practical and transferable tools, methodologies and exercises that could be replicated in local contexts after the mobility activity. Another important objective of the project was to redefine the role of the youth worker not only as a facilitator of activities, but as a figure capable of accompanying young people through meaningful learning and identity-building processes. The project therefore focused on improving the quality of educational relationships, promoting active listening, empathy, trust-building and personalised support strategies. At organisational level, “A Blink of an I” also aimed to strengthen cooperation among European partner organisations, improve the quality of mobility and volunteering projects and contribute to the development of more innovative and sustainable approaches within the youth sector. Through experiential learning, reflection activities, self-assessment tools and intercultural exchange, the project sought to create long-term impact both on the participants and on the organisations involved, contributing to a more conscious, inclusive and high-quality youth work practice across local and international contexts.
