Objectives

The COtoCO project arose from the need to address the educational emergency relating to the growing communication and relationship difficulties experienced by young people. The needs analysis conducted in the partner communities had highlighted that young people were finding it increasingly difficult to relate to their peers, to communicate using structured language and to express emotions and thoughts related to the emotional sphere. These issues emerged across the board in different educational contexts, regardless of the cultural background and social context of the young people. The project aimed to operate on two interconnected levels. On the one hand, it aimed to create an opportunity for discussion and in-depth analysis of the communication difficulties evident among young people, analysing the root causes of these problems. On the other hand, it aimed to provide a high-quality training experience to equip youth workers with effective, practical and immediately applicable tools to enhance and develop the communication and relationship skills of the young people they work with. The specific objectives of the project were: Objective 1 - Development of needs analysis skills: The project required the 20 participating youth workers to learn at least three different methods of needs analysis, acquiring specific tools to identify young people's communication difficulties. The aim was to broaden the knowledge of youth workers in terms of understanding needs, which is necessary for the consistent adaptation and improvement of educational proposals in their contexts. Objective 2 - Creation of a collaborative learning space: Through the Indigo Method based on active listening, the project aimed to create a welcoming environment where participants could dialogue, exchange ideas and analyse their communities in depth. The goal was to formulate a common strategy to be developed in the five months following the mobility, in order to bring innovative methods to work with young people and keep the dialogue and mutual growth between the partner countries alive. Objective 3 - Enhancing communication and expression skills: The project aimed to enrich the repertoire of skills of youth workers both individually (improving their own communication skills) and professionally (learning how to support young people in communicating). The objective was for participants to develop personalised pathways for their communities, adopting at least three new tools to convey effective strategies to young people that would improve communication and promote the development of emotional intelligence. The project involved 20 youth workers from five partner countries in a 10-day professional development activity. The training programme was structured to ensure a high-quality non-formal learning experience, in line with Erasmus+ quality standards and the programme's priorities relating to inclusion, diversity and the development of innovative socio-educational animation practices.
