The initiative E.C.O. Styles - Ethical Clothing Options is a follow-up to a K2 project titled Fast Fashion Fast Forward (4F), aimed at raising awareness among young people, the community (at various levels), and stakeholders about conscious clothing use and purchasing. Not everyone knows that the second cause of pollution, after oil, is fast fashion, so much so that the European Community has clearly expressed its stance against this global trend. Fast fashion has a significant impact on the environment, workers' rights, and society as a whole. Here are some key aspects: Environmental Impact: Fast fashion is associated with excessive waste production, intensive use of natural resources, air and water pollution, and significantly contributes to climate change. Workers' Rights: Many fast fashion companies rely on global supply chains where workers often endure dangerous working conditions and exploitation. Compulsive Consumption: Fast fashion promotes a consumption model based on impulsive buying, leading to excessive production and resource wastage. Many young people today, regardless of social status, are attracted to the models offered in order to feel accepted and conform to social standards. Given this scenario, the role of young people is crucial for reversing the trend, as they acquire awareness and propose new lifestyles and habits. The activities will take place in Milan, an ideal context (considered the European capital of fashion) for the analysis and dissemination of the project. The initiative values the role of youth workers as catalysts for change, offering them effective tools. The knowledge, methodologies, and approaches proposed revolve around three axes of action: identity path; awareness of the impulse to fast purchasing; slow social enterprise.
