Objectives

GNJC "Bāze" based both of its 2024 accreditation funding activities on one of the Erasmus+ and accreditation priorities - participation in democratic life - based on observations that there is low participation among young people not only in Latvia, but also in other European countries. In addition, promoting youth participation is one of the main priorities in the daily work of the youth center "Bāze". We believe that young people need to have a voice and organize their initiatives, and we believe that youth workers can lead them to make this happen. Through international training, we planned to inspire youth workers to create new approaches and share their practice to promote youth participation in decision-making processes. So that as a result, young people themselves could be involved in improving the quality of their own lives and the lives of those around them at local, national and European levels. But through youth exchange, we directly planned to influence young people's understanding of decision-making, as well as motivate them to be active citizens and express their opinions on topics that are important to them. Both implemented activities - youth worker mobility and youth exchange - resonate with the overall goal set in our Erasmus+ accreditation - to create an opportunity for young people from Gulbene region to participate in activities (discussions, seminars, leisure activities, etc.) to increase their competences to improve the quality of their lives on a local, national and international scale on topics such as social inclusion, protection of interests, green lifestyle, digital tools, intercultural dialogue, etc. topics. We also provided the same opportunities to young people from our international partner organizations. At the same time, creating a learning environment for youth workers or individuals who would like to link their careers with youth work, to acquire skills, methods, knowledge, improve existing ones, so that they can create the above-mentioned opportunities for young people, improve their professional competences and improve their work in their organization to overall increase the quality of youthwork in Europe.
