Objectives

In today's world where digitalization is rapidly increasing, the internet and social media platforms have become an inseparable part of our lives. However, this transformation has brought new and serious threats, especially for women. Cyber violence against women goes beyond the physical world and makes its presence felt in digital environments; many types of violence such as threats, harassment, slander, blackmail, and unauthorized photo sharing threaten women's digital security. It is precisely at this point that the need to carry out our project arose. The main purpose of our project has been determined as investigating the causes of problems arising from gender inequality and raising awareness by addressing the phenomenon of cyber violence against women in this context. Drawing attention to the fact that women should be protected and supported in digital environments as in real life has been among our priorities. The studies and publications of the European Institute for Gender Equality (EIGE) in this field have also inspired our project. When looking at cyber violence data, it is clearly seen that women and girls are exposed to bullying more than men in digital environments. For this reason, our project aimed to raise awareness that cyber violence is a digital extension of real-life violence. At the same time, we wanted to highlight how digital platforms can have devastating effects on individuals when used incorrectly. We particularly emphasized the issue of digital security and gender inequality, supporting young people to raise awareness on the issue. The main goals we determined within the scope of our project are explained below; - To draw attention to the physical, sexual, psychological and economic problems experienced by women due to cyber violence and to support the formation of social awareness about the consequences of this violence, - To explain to our participants and target audience what cyber violence is and to provide information about various types of violence against women on online platforms such as attacks, harassment, threats, slander, unauthorized sharing of images and blackmail, - To emphasize the importance of careful and conscious use of digital platforms, - To carry out the necessary information activities on how digital security can be provided and what to pay attention to, - To ensure that an emotional bond is established with women subjected to cyber violence by developing a culture of empathy and solidarity in participants, - To create awareness about the negative psychological effects such as insecurity, fear and pressure caused by cyber violence, - To support the formation of social awareness about the need for measures such as legal regulations, cyber security measures, education and awareness programs, support services and the provision of resources to ensure women's digital security, - To warn our young participants about the dark sides of the digital world and encourage them to establish a respectful digital communication environment free of violence, - To monitor and prevent cyber violence, support victims and increase international cooperation to emphasize the need for more projects, - to increase the visibility and awareness of the Erasmus+ Program and the Youthpass Certificate, - to create an environment of intercultural integration and synergy, to change people's negative opinions about people from different countries and cultures, - to support young people in learning different languages, - to support and develop young people's social skills and personal development. By implementing our project, we aimed to create a change of consciousness not only at the individual level but also at the societal level; to create a more equal, safer and more sensitive digital life culture. We believe that we have taken an important step by reaching both our participants and the wider society with the activities we have carried out in this direction.
