The goal of the project was to promote the participation of young people aged 13-16 from Lēdmane and 3 nearby villages (Suntaži, Jumprava and Birzgale) in solving issues relevant to them, taking into account the needs and desires of young people. Our goal was closely related to the European Youth Goal on: Promoting the development of rural youth. By implementing this project, we created conditions in which every young person living in our rural communities had the opportunity to develop their potential, see various opportunities around them and believe in their abilities. The idea of our project was that we (young people) often have problems formulating what we want. Young people are unable to answer the questions - What is it that I want?; "What is it that interests me?" With the help of the project, we wanted to promote the understanding of the concept of participation among the young people involved in the project (Lēdmane, Birzgale, Jumprava and Suntaži). Also, seeing our activities, we wanted to address other young people. Our vision was that the young people involved in the project would be initiators of change. Every young person would gain experience and knowledge that would serve to enable young people to achieve changes that the young people themselves have initiated and want. Changes could be in any issue: education, improving their environment, etc. During the project, we wanted to gain confidence that we, young people, are also able to influence many things, that our opinion is important and that we are listened to. Also, we expected that, thanks to the project, young people would improve such life skills as the ability to cooperate with each other; recognize opportunities for cooperation; solve issues that are relevant to them; formulate and ask questions; analyze the data obtained; understand their desires and needs; express their opinions and lead discussions.
