The accredited Erasmus+ youth mobility project of the Association for Roma Community Development "Sumnal" aimed to translate our long-term Erasmus+ Youth accreditation) into tangible international learning opportunities for young people and youth workers. The overall goal was to empower Roma and non-Roma youth through inclusive, sustainable, and value-based mobility experiences that strengthen personal growth, intercultural dialogue, and democratic participation. Our motivation stemmed from two decades of work with marginalized young people in North Macedonia, where unequal access to education, discrimination, and limited participation still restrict the prospects of Roma youth. By engaging them in international, non-formal learning environments, we sought to raise self-confidence, stimulate leadership, and foster a sense of European belonging. The accredited framework also responded to our organization's strategic need to reinforce the professionalism of youth work staff and to build long-term partnerships for inclusion and sustainability. Main objectives 1. Personal and professional development of young people. To provide high-quality international mobility experiences that help participants gain essential life and employability skills, broaden horizons, and become more resilient, self-aware, and future-oriented citizens. 2. Active citizenship and democratic participation. To empower youth to take responsibility for their communities, engage in civic dialogue, and understand democratic values through experiential learning, simulations, and intercultural teamwork. 3. Quality development of youth work. To enhance the competences of youth workers and strengthen organizational capacity by exchanging good practices, introducing innovative digital tools, and promoting environmental sustainability in everyday youth work. 4. Inclusion, diversity, and solidarity. To promote equal opportunities and intercultural dialogue among young people regardless of their background, and to embed the values of tolerance, human rights, and ecological awareness in all mobility actions. Two main mobility activities were realized under the KA151 grant: • Youth Exchange “Celebrating Diversity and Building the Future” (23–29 May 2025, Bitola/Pelister). 24 young people from North Macedonia, Greece, Bulgaria and Turkey explored identity, diversity, and environmental responsibility through interactive workshops, storytelling circles, simulations on democratic life, eco-trails, and community project design. Activities such as Understanding Cultures & Fighting Stereotypes, Youth Voices - Building a Democratic Future, and Green Futures linked personal reflection with collective action. At least half of the participants came from fewer-opportunity backgrounds, ensuring that inclusion was not only a principle but a lived reality. • Training Course for Youth Workers “Empowering Youth Workers for Inclusion and Sustainability” (12–18 June 2025, Pelister National Park). 24 youth workers from North Macedonia, Slovenia, Spain, Serbia and Italy strengthened their competences through sessions on inclusive teaching methods, peer mediation, cultural sensitivity, and digital engagement. The digital module introduced practical tools (Canva, Miro, Padlet, Trello, Mentimeter) and led to the co-creation of pilot online campaigns on inclusion and sustainability. The combination of indoor learning, outdoor environmental activities, and intercultural evenings fostered both professional and human connection. By implementing these activities, we aimed to: • Improve the self-esteem, intercultural competence, and employability of participating youth; • Inspire youth workers to apply inclusive, eco-friendly, and digital methodologies in their daily practice; • Strengthen Sumnal’s role as a reliable Erasmus+ partner organization promoting the EU Youth Goals of Engage, Connect and Empower; • Create long-term cooperation networks among the participating NGOs; • Contribute locally to more tolerant, participatory, and environmentally responsible communities.
