The project brought together two interconnected Erasmus+ training courses; 'Beyond the Individual', which was carried out in January 2025, and ,Starting from the Self', which was carried out in March 2025. Both were conceived within the broader theme of professional and personal development of youth workers and other professionals active in the social field. The courses aimed to strengthen the competencies, resilience, and reflexivity of those supporting young people and communities, recognising that effective youth work and social practice start from within, from self-awareness and an understanding of human systems. The main objective was to empower professionals to work more effectively and holistically by developing both their internal and relational capacities. The two training courses complemented one another: 'Beyond the Individual' introduced participants to systemic practice, helping them understand how individuals are influenced by their relationships and contexts, while 'Starting from the Self' encouraged participants to explore self-awareness, personal growth, and reflective practice as foundations for professional effectiveness. Through these approaches, the projects sought to: i. Introduce systemic concepts and techniques that enhance participants’ understanding of relationships and social systems in youth and community work. ii. Develop self-reflection and emotional intelligence, enabling participants to better understand their biases, values, and internal processes. iii. Strengthen interpersonal and communication skills by exploring dynamics of connection, conflict management, and collaboration. iv. Promote holistic well-being among professionals by encouraging balance between personal and professional identities. v. Build an international network of practitioners who can exchange practices and collaborate beyond the duration of the training. Ultimately, the project aspired to foster a shift in perspective, from viewing challenges as individual problems to recognising them as part of broader systemic and relational patterns, and from acting automatically to acting consciously, starting from the self. By investing in the development of professionals, the project contributed to higher-quality youth work and social inclusion across Europe.
