Objectives

The project supports creative and innovative developments in youth work. Research shows that in a post-pandemic scenario, youth workers are encountering more and more young people who are finding it difficult to cope with the pressures of life. Moreover, research clearly highlights the strong impact that blue spaces can have on the healthy development on young people, both physically and mentally. - The training course trained youth workers how to embrace nature and especially blue spaces as a source of inspiration and healing for young people and youth workers who are experiencing stress as a result of anxiety, depression and loss. This training course offered the tools and a methodology that could be used to support them. The training activity took the youth workers on a journey of discovery through full immersion. They experienced the impact of blue spaces in hands-on activities. - The training course empowered the participants to feel confident in their competence to use these environments for the benefit of young people who are passing through difficult times. It enabled them to understand their competences in using blue spaces, to build on experience in order to develop a learning environment, and to be critically aware of their limitations and the need to seek support from other professionals. The support from professionals was explored as necessary both for the benefits gained as well as for the safety of participants. In its renewed format, this training course also offered the participants official recognition of nonformal learning in the form of an Award equivalent to 4 ECTS.
