Objectives

20 young people shall be participating in this project in 4 different groups for 4 different activities, together with an accompanying person per group. These are young people with fewer opportunities due to their socioeconomic background and learning difficulties/disabilities. In providing this project for these young people we are opening our activities to participants from different backgrounds and with diverse abilities; actively engage and involve them. We want to carry out this project to provide travel and mobility opportunities for young people turning 18. An age that marks a major step to adulthood to increase understanding of Europe. Such experiences will foster their sense of belonging to the European Union, allow them to explore the diversity of Europe, its cultural heritage and history, connect with people from all over the continent, and ultimately discover themselves. The issues and needs that we identify include the restricted and fear of travel and the sheltering of parents of vulnerable young people due to mentality or fear of something happening to them. In addition, we live on a small island and the opportunities to connect and explore beyond the island's borders are crucial for young people. The objectives of the project are to provide young people with fewer opportunities an opportunity to obtain the travel pass and embark on this mobility. This is an attempt to increase the inclusiveness and diversity of the Erasmus+, not only by allowing many more people to learn or volunteer in another country but in particular by reaching out to increasing numbers of people with fewer opportunities through such programs. Our project links perfectly to this aim, as it allows our participants who have fewer opportunities such as financial limitations, learning difficulties, learning disabilities, health issues, and challenging socioeconomic backgrounds to participate in this initiative. With this inclusion measure, there is a strong boost to improve equity and inclusion in the European Education Area which is the first principle of the European Pillar of Social Rights, which provides that everyone has the right to quality and inclusive education, training, and lifelong learning no matter the background and abilities.
