We wanted to implement a Youth Exchange to help young people manage loneliness and social isolation by providing new approaches, knowledge, skills and attitudes which can help them be more active in their communities. We focused specifically on the following objectives: · To provide participants with tools with which they can help reduce loneliness in their communities · To help participants become aware of their own negative behavioural patterns (e.g. self isolation) · To empower participants to cope with unpleasant emotions such as social anxiety and lack of self-esteem · To improve the communication and team-building skills relevant for helping young people engage with others · To create a safe space for young people to share experiences and ideas We aimed to include participants with fewer opportunities, as well as young people that had not participated in an Erasmus+ activity in the past, as we believe they are the ones that will benefit the most from this Youth Exchange. In addition, to multiply the visibility of the project and to increase the participants’ engagement with the local community we wanted to collaborate with the local initiative “Pact Against Loneliness” for a day of activities in the nearby town of Appingedam.
