Objectives

The main idea of the Wilderness Wonders project was to provide holistic training, including theoretical and practical modules, on the topic of Outdoor Adventure Education. Thus Wilderness Wonders aimed to improve the quality and outreach of youth work by developing participants' competencies in the area of facilitation of learning and training, equip them with the tools and methods relevant for working with young people. The course set the following SMART objectives: - To strengthen participants’ facilitation skills and soft competencies through a blend of theoretical knowledge, practical tools, and hands-on experience in facilitating an international group in a safe and supportive environment. - To provide tools, training, and a platform for sharing strategies to work with young people from disadvantaged backgrounds. - To equip participants with experiential learning methods, particularly focusing on outdoor adventure education and nature-based learning, to better engage the groups they work with. - To encourage the exchange of diverse methods, tools, and approaches used by partner organizations, enriching participants’ resources and perspectives. - To support participants in designing learning programs tailored to their specific contexts and needs. - To introduce and practiced “behavior” as the fourth element of the competence model (alongside knowledge, skills, and attitude) and provided tools, such as “inner readiness,” to help participants better support their target groups. - To improve participants’ soft skills—including leadership, communication, adaptability, conflict management, and cooperation—by engaging them in an outdoor expedition where they collaborated, took initiative, and worked as a team, fostering both personal and professional growth. - To guide participants in developing their tyles as trainers and facilitators by helping them identify their strengths and weaknesses and offering strategies to enhance and apply them effectively.
