In the face of the current socio-political situation and after seeing that youth and young adults express that they experience loneliness and a need for networks and connections to other people, the project partners wanted to create a youth exchange with a focus on democratic values and citizenship, human rights, dialogue and collaboration since this is more important than ever. Especially since young people from both organisations’ localities have expressed the wish and need to engage with young people from abroad, as well as gain knowledge and insights into different realities. With this project, we wanted to help the young participants to gain new knowledge and competencies about democratic values, active citizenship, human rights and social collaboration and to try them out during the project. The participants have experienced cultural exchange and gained an impression of the reality of other young people's lives to fight the feelings of loneliness and disconnection. This was done through non-formal education and through physical activities in nature and urban environments.
