Objectives

In the fourth year of FEIS accreditation, we continued our long-term strategy to increase young people’s participation in local democracy. We aimed to strengthen youth agency in Bytom and its partner cities (axis: Bytom–Drohobych–Ormož, with the inclusion of Třinec), deepen cooperation among youth representations, and consolidate dialogue with decision-makers. In parallel, we developed “participant-to-leader” pathways—within the Youth City Council (MRM), schools and NGOs—laying the groundwork for a citywide volunteer scheme in Bytom (with implementation envisioned for 2026). Our third pillar was practice: we wanted participants to tangibly enhance labour-market skills, including digital and entrepreneurial competences, by creating concrete educational products and working in international teams. In addition, we set two capacity-building goals. First—Civic: to design and structure non-formal civic education so it is repeatable, engaging and easy to implement by Youth Councils, schools and NGOs. Second—Inclusion: to implement and mainstream genuine inclusion mechanisms in the youth field. We planned to promote Inclusion Policies, launch an inclusion self-assessment, and provide training materials for staff and volunteers so that every partner organisation reaches a basic level of accessibility and safeguarding. The intended outcome was to move inclusion from an add-on to a quality standard embedded across all activities.
