The idea for the project arose during the Erasmus+ youth exchange program "Job for Everyone," implemented in June 2023. During the project, implemented in June 2023, on the last day of classes, young people participated in a session dedicated to diagnosing their own development needs (related to facilitating entry into the job market after graduation, developing social, communication, and self-organization skills, and developing the skills necessary to function in a modern world increasingly based on digital solutions). After diagnosing their needs, the young people sought ideas for further joint international projects that would allow them to continue developing their competences through transnational cooperation and drawing on each other's experiences. At the end of the aforementioned workshop session, an 8-person group of young people from Poland and Hungary, attending high schools and technical schools, presented a joint idea and concept for organizing another youth exchange focused on building a personal brand online. During the presentation of the results of the group brainstorming session (held during the workshops), the youth indicated that: - Using applications on their smartphones, they verified that the average daily use time of applications such as Facebook, TikTok, Instagram, and Snapchat for group members ranged from 4 to 6 hours per day. - At the same time, despite such a large amount of time and interest devoted to online applications, none of the group members had any knowledge of how content is promoted on social media or the "behind the scenes" process of creating the image of people they follow on social media. - Profiles created on social media are publicly available and are increasingly used to evaluate candidates applying for jobs in various industries. What we publish on our profiles significantly influences building our image among potential employers. - Social media has great potential for building one's personal brand, showcasing one's activities (e.g., social activities related to self-development) to a wider audience, and showcasing one's successes and experiences. - Despite the fact that everyone in the group is aware of this, The extent to which what is published on social media influences the image of young people is unclear. Group members from Poland and Hungary often post content thoughtlessly, on a whim, and present themselves in situations that negatively impact their image. - No one in the group had previously built a profile, for example, on Facebook, with the intention of showcasing their achievements and social activity, or the experience gained through this activity (despite the fact that all group members regularly engaged in educational campaigns, international projects, and social activities). The analysis conducted by the youth revealed that social media can be a showcase for young people entering the job market. It's worth investing time in carefully managing your own Facebook and Instagram profiles to present yourself in the best possible light, promote your acquired knowledge and experience, and showcase your social involvement and activity. The youth concluded that if they started managing their social media profiles professionally, it would be much easier for them to succeed in entering the job market in the next few years. The youth concluded that they needed knowledge on how to effectively reshape their social media profiles, how to structure posts, how to promote content, and how to professionally interact online. Young people from Poland and Hungary indicated that they would like to practice key skills related to creating content for social media during workshops, so as to permanently change their existing, flawed, and long-established habits. Organizing a joint youth exchange provided such an opportunity. Through workshops, group work, and meetings with social media specialists, the youth could develop their digital skills and begin to transform their social media management style. As partner organizations from Hungary and Poland, we supported the young people working with us and helped them implement a youth exchange focused on the topic of image building on social media, proposed by the young people. The detailed project concept and application were prepared by ICfDaE and Gyermek Mosoly staff, along with the youth group that initiated the entire project. The youth were also involved in most of the activities related to the preparation and implementation of the exchange.
